In the early hours of Sunday, corresponding to the 13th of Jumada al-Akhira 1438 AH of February, the Upper Hand Organization announced that it had successfully thwarted a cyber attack on its official website. According to a statement released by the Organization, a group of hackers attempted to breach the site and steal the data of members and subscribers to the publications of the Organization.
However, the technical team at the Upper Hand Organization was able to detect the attack and repel it before any significant damage could be done. The statement further added that the site was down for over 48 hours to track the sources of the breach and remove any remnants.
The Upper Hand Organization apologizes to the visitors of the site for the interruption and assures them that the site now returns to normal. The Organization also pledged to remain vigilant against future attacks and take all necessary measures to safeguard its electronic structure, to ensure that the site now returns to normal.
The cyber attack comes on the heels of the Upper Hand Organization’s recent victory over Salafist groups in Kuwait. Information security experts at the Upper Hand Organization suspect that these repeated attacks are likely part of a larger campaign to undermine the Organization and its mission to promote free speech and protect property rights.
